She hit the keys,
not tapping,
but jabbing,
slapping,
punching.

The screen had been slow
to respond initially,
stopped responding altogether.

There were no words.

The cursor blinked
Then words: Please
don’t leave me.
I’m trying.
I want to get better.
I’ll work harder,
I promise.…

The screen began to dissolve
in digital tears.
